WP e-Commerce, when the ‘Same as Billing’ checkbox will not display on the checkout page!

Strange little problem that drove me mad

When you go to the WP e-Commerce Settings/Store/Checkout Tab at the top under miscellaneous Yes No radio buttons for “Enable Shipping Same as Billing Option:” Today I had a user ask me why when this was set to Yes the “Same as Billing: checkbox was not displayed above the Shipping Address form on the checkout page?
Well it took me a really long time to find the problem so I am posting the solution.

  1. Go to Settings> Store > Checkout >
    At the top of your form is “Your billing/contact details”, the “Type” should be Heading and next
    make sure the “Unique Names” field for it is set to > “Select a Unique Name” in the drop down list
  2. On the same tab in your form look for “Shipping Address”, the “Type” should be Heading and next is the important part!
    Make sure the “Unique Names” field is set to > “delivertoafriend” in the drop down list

This is how it is by default, but when someone like your client changes it, it is not something you notice. Click the image for a larger view.

    You saved my ass! Somehow one field of the shipping address fields became mandatory and kept the ship to billing address option from working.
